Our entertainment blocks are usually 4 hours in length, from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am, or from 10:00 pm to 2:00 am. We do, however, adjust to suit the tastes of management everywhere. We realize that when we walk into an establishment, we represent it to the customers, so we act accordingly. Also, and this is very important, we are not a high-pressure karaoke company and will not actively go from table to table to ask people if they want to sing. That puts people on the spot, and makes them feel uncomfortable, and we don't want that. They know where the books, pencils and slips are, and if they want to sing, they'll come to us.
Also, if there's periods of time in a night where there are few to no singers, we do not just put on music and relax until someone comes up. We sing, even if it's just the hosts. We've been hired for four hours of karaoke, and we're going to deliver.
However, the flipside to that is that the hosts will usually stay in rotation, even if there are singers. April and Cameron get a lot of requests for them to sing, and they fill those requests to the best of their ability, because even if people don't sing, they still want to be entertained, and if that means singing to them, then so be it.
Of course, with such a demand, there are songs we just won't get to. We apologize in advance for that. There's always next time.
From April: "We have one of the biggest libraries in the business. With 14,000 unique songs in our repertoire, we have a little something for everyone, but we cater mostly to the younger generation of new karaoke fans (between the ages of 19-25). We feel that this demographic ensures the future of our business, rather than playing for an older crowd who are already established karaoke customers."
From Cameron: "To cut through the above politically correct crap from April, we play rock. The kind of rock that would make grandpa's ears and eyes bleed. It's not that we don't have all kinds of music, but if we played Kenny Rogers, it really wouldn't suit the "attitude" part of the business, would it? And the "ROCK. HARD." thing would just have been a waste of money to put it on our banners."
